Conferentie: The Rule of Law in Europe (TiU)

English text below.

On 31 August 2015 and 1 September 2015, Tilburg University organizes a conference on the rule of law in Europe. The consensus is that the EU has limited competences and limited tools, but a great responsibility in the area of the rule of law. Furthermore there is increasing pressure on the EU to apply similar scrutiny to its Member States as it does to countries in pre-accession situations. This two-day conference aims to investigate – as concretely as possible – the tools being used and proposed to enforce and develop the rule of law within the EU and Europe more broadly. Employing behavioural insights and using metrics in a constitutionally appropriate way in the context of systemic infringement will be central themes at this event, which will facilitate exchanges between policymakers, academics and NGOs.
