Ph.D. Workshop on October 9th

Peter Lindseth, author of Power and Legitimacy. Reconciling Europe and the Nation-State (OUP, 2010) will discuss the participants’ individual research projects focusing on methodological approaches to legitimacy in EU legal research. The discussion will be structured around questions submitted by the participants. A paper by Peter Lindseth will be circulated in advance to provide a common ground of discussion.

Participants should submit a short abstract of their research and the questions/issues they would like to debate (maximum 500 words), by October 2nd, the latest, to Joana Mendes (j.m.mendes@uva.nl). Maximum number of participants: 10. Location: University of Amsterdam, Faculty of Law, F 2.01 A-B, Oudemanhuispoort 4-6, 1012 CN Amsterdam.

Roundtable on October 10th

This session will be followed by a roundtable on “What’s in a label? Understanding the EU in constitutional, executive, and/or administrative terms”, hosted by Gareth Davies (VU University), which will take place on Friday, the 10th of October, at 13.30, in Room A 1.01. Ben Crum, Christopher Lord, Leonard Besselink and Joana Mendes will discuss the work of Peter Lindseth. Interested participants are requested to register by sending an email to g.t.davies@vu.nl.

About Peter Lindseth

Peter Lindseth is Professor of International and Comparative Law at the University of Connecticut. He is currently the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW) Visiting Professor at Tilburg University. His expertise lies at the intersection of comparative administrative law, European integration, international economic law, and the legal history of public governance (for more information, please visit Professor Lindseth’s page).
